Right to Choose

Pathway for NHS right to Choose Referral for ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder

If you are based in England and under the NHS, you now have a legal right to choose your mental healthcare provider and your choice of mental healthcare team. This important right means that, for instance, should you decide the waiting time for your ADHD/ Autism assessment is too long, then you can choose alternative providers.

It is your responsibility to look for a provider for right to choose.  Once you have done this you will need to complete the relevant questionnaires and paperwork detailed on the provider you've chosen's website.

Once you have completed the relevant paperwork, please bring this into the surgery to be put into your notes and for your referral to be processed by the GP/Mental Health nurse. If the GP or Mental Health nurse decide they want to discuss this with you the surgery will send you a link to book an appointment or telephone call. Please make sure your paperwork has your name and date of birth on it
